Sunday in downtown Athens

A stroll down the Ancient Agora…  the Stoa of Attalos… the Temple of Hephaestus, the most well-preserved temple in the whole Greek territory, with its roof intact… The place is full of energy… tourists lie on the grass, bathe in the sun… and Greek nature triumphs, all scents and colours…  my favourites, magenta, yellow and poppy red conquer all… while some turtles leisurely take the most isolated paths… You sit on a bench and gaze at the Acropolis, thinking of the past, the present and the future of this city… and there come to your mind the shells you just saw in the Attalos Museum, carved with names such as Themistocles, Aristides… and you cannot help thinking how useful they might have been today, and a list of names shapes, of some contemporaries of ours whom we would, indeed, like to ‘ostracize’ from our country for at least ten years, as did Ancient Athens…

A bit later, double Greek coffee with some marshmallow in Theseum…  This harassed city of Athens can still offer enjoyment while you walk it through…
