32ο Rally Fthiotidas

Back to the Greek Rally Championship, in the right side bucket seat of a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX, with George Filippides driving, on the weekend of 25-26th April 2015, for the 32nd Rally Fthiotidas 2015. A double event within the Greek Rally Championship, one on asphalt on Saturday and one on gravel on Sunday. We finished second on asphalt, losing during the last special stage in the outskirts of Lamia town, while leading the rally, after about 80 km of special stages, by just 1 sec 78!

The next day, on gravel, we abandoned after rolling twice. Both accidents happened during the special stage “Grammeni”, which was run twice. The first time we managed to keep going, but on the second incident, the car just “refused” to move further. I realized for one more time – or rather, two more times 🙂 – how safe rally cars are, and that rallying is safer than driving on the highway.

I would like to thank, once more, our fellow rally drivers Apostolis Tsilikas and Konstantinos Mihos, who helped us during recce, when we stranded “in the middle of nowhere” after a mechanical failure. Their behaviour  reminded me of the atmosphere that prevailed in car rallies in previous decades.

I would also like to apologize to the team of Lefteris Sotirhos, who prepare the Mitsubishi, and whom we “stood up” after our adventure in the second “Grammeni”.
